Yes, 19K gold contains real gold - it is 79.2% pure gold and the rest is a blend of other metals. It is relatively new to the jewellery market so cannot be found in every jewellery store. 18K and 14K are more common carats of jewellery.
18ct gold is 75% pure gold and 25% other metals whilst 9ct gold has a content of 37.5% pure gold and 62.5% other metals. 18ct gold contains more pure gold metal than 9ct gold and so is more valuable. However, this doesn’t mean that it is better. Each has different properties; 9ct is harder wearing than 18ct for example.
18ct gold is excellent quality. It is 18 parts pure gold (or 75% pure) which means that it is more valuable but a softer metal than 9ct gold. However, it is extremely durable, with a beautiful appearance. It does not tarnish, corrode and is considered hypoallergenic.
